Creating your Mahou Shoujo

This part can be completely skipped if dealing with stats isnt your fling, just send me a good description&background and I'll tune the character sheet for you based on it.

Arquetipe:

A general clasification of the Magical Girls, serves as simplified mentality and view of life description. Up to now, there are 5 arquetipes:

Red Oni: Hot-headed hero, brave or just plain stupid, the first one to jump in, the last one to fall back. Feelings show the right path
Blue Oni: Cool hero, calm or just plain cold, likes to know what she's getting into. Logic shows the right path.
Green Oni: The Strategist, a response for each contingency, even if something unexpected happens, its her pride to have a plan ready. There is not only one right path.
Purple Oni: The Anti-hero, sometimes a clutz, sometimes a genious, but always a clown. Life is a joke, so dont bother thinking too deep. Even if there is one right path, there is no way to find it.
Black Oni: The Dark hero, redemed villain or avenger, her grim determination keeps her moving, as the end justifies any mean. There was a right path once, but is forever gone.


This refers to the basic characteristics of your magical girl.

Strenght: The capacity to exert physical effort, important in hand to hand combat and to perform physical actions, such as lifting objects or breaking things.




Dexterity: The overall speed, reflexes and eye-hand coordination, important for dodging and hitting, also for some actions like sleight of hand.




Vitality: The capacity to withstand punishment, both physical or supernatural, important to keep fighting while wounded, and to resist certain magic effects, such as energy drain.




Inteligence: The wits of the magical girl, it doesnt measure the knowledge of the character, but the ease with wich she uses it. Very important to perform non innate magic, such as the one learned from grimoires.



Wisdom: The capacity to assimilate new knowledge, and the posibility of the mahou shoujo already knowing vital information for the development. Key to resist most indirect effects of magic, such as branwash, sleep or paralisys.



Ego: The personality of a magical girl, character with high ego are usually haughty and hard to deal with, but also trustworthy and easy to work under, high ego character make excelent leaders. Key for innate magic, such as the one inherited from one's ancestors.




A character starts with a score of 8 on each attribute, and have 30 points to freely distribute, with certain rules:

-You get +1 to and attribute fore each point spent, up to "14"
-If you want to specialice, you can keep spending points, but at a higher cost. you spent 2 points for each attribute point up to "16", and 3 points each up to "18"
-You cannot begin your story with more than 18 points in an attribute (there are some exceptions, as we will see later on)
-A score of 8 is a somewhat weak attribute, 8 strenght means you have trouble crushing a can with your hands, 8 dextery means you often trip, or get hit by a ball when trying to catch it, 8 vitality means a weak body, maybe asthmatic or anemic, an ego of 8 would mean a shy and complacent personality.
-A score of 16 means an inhuman but still credible attribute, 16 means you take down a bulletproof crystal with your fist, 16 intelligence means you can retort even before the boke finishes talking, a 16 ego will surely be the uncontested madonna of her school.
-A score of 18 means an incredible attribute, Dextery 18 could allow you to cut down bullets with a sword, 18 Vitality could mean you can keep fighting with an iron beam impaling your chest, with 18 wisdom you might even be able to understand evangelion.



Abilities:

This refers to the multiple skills the character has such as mechanics, informatics, investigation, empathy, haggle, sleight of hand, alertness.... etc. They have an initial rating and will increase in number or quality as the mahou shoujo becomes stronger.
the exact rules about abilities will vary depending of the rest of the sheet, so will be handled individually via PM.


Feats:

This refers to special conditions that improve a character in a one-time only fashion: some examples would be "dexterous with fire" that increases the efectiveness of the Mahou Shoujo when she uses fire spell, "Stubborn" that increases her resistance to psychological effects, such as fear or charm, "Careful Aim" that increases her precision when nothing is distracting her, "Flying low" that negates the penalties for flying close to the ground or "Instant transformation" that allows to transform inmediately, without the need of concentrating of giving advantages to a possible attacker.

I'm trying to promote individualty here, just name your feat and describe it, and ill take care of the fine details.

Every character begins with 2 feats.

Powers:

In first place, define your sphere of influence, will you be a highly specialiced magician, or a generalist?

The more you specialice, the more efective will be your magic, but the less versatile. A fire mage will lit more intense fires than a mere elementalist, but will be unable to summon water.

Some examples could be, time magic, body enhancement, raw power manipulation, summoning, transformation... but then again, you are the one creating your magical girl

Now, decide your skills.

Signature Move: The signature move is self-explaining. That one skill that defines you best. Nanoha's Divine Buster, Homura's Time Stop or Mew Ichigo's Berry Bell.
The Signature Move difer from other skills, as it's autmatically upgraded when the mahou shoujo increases her power. It will be forever useful.


Normal Moves: This are individual spells that work in a concrete fashion, as a mahou shoujo increases in power, she can improve her spells or learn new ones.


Ultimate Move: Mahou shoujo that acquire certain power rank unlock an ultimate move, usually of devastating or absolute effects, but with a high price for using.

a Character starts with her signature move and two normal moves.


Weaknesses:

Every character needs at least one weakness (unless they waste a feat in something like "No weakness", but spending a feat on that could be considered a weakness in itself ).

Think about something consistent with your background to use as weakness, and remember, the narrator (thats me!) is here to compensate the game, so more weaknesses will probably be rewarded in some other way.

If a weakness is physical, its called feebleness, if its psychological, dementia, and if its spiritual, sin.

Finishing touches:

Revise your character, it's everything okay for you?

Are you sure you wont regret later on that attribute you left so low?

Is really that feat the best way to make your individual mahou shoujo stand out?

Are you sure your powers are appropiate? you might regret it later if you pick offensive moves only and need a barrier later, or a mean to move quickly, or improved vision...
