Well, there are a lot of things in this reality that your characters should know, and you don't. So I'll be answering here to questions I think can be interesting to everybody.
¿What's de difference between Inteligence based magic and Ego based magic?
Well, Ego based magic is the easiest to explain, it's the kind of magic one uses with her own magic potential. Inteligence based magic, on the other side, borrows power for somewhere else.
A bookworm who uses ancient grimories to summon the power of the ancient ones, or a normal girl that has became super powered by having cybernetic implants are examples of Inteligence based mages.
A half dragon who sets ablaze her enemies with her powerful roar or a magical girl that channels her inner energy to cast spells are examples of Ego based magic.
